Hard drive brings up MSF light

Hard and fast driving on the motorway brought up the MSF warning light (orange engine indicator on speedo face) last night but no obvious performance drop. Checked with Alfadiag this morning which brought up the following error code on reading the ECU:

P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

What exactly does this mean? Have cleared the code and the warning has gone. Do I need to replace some component/part?

I'd see if it does it again first. sometimes the sensors go a bit wierd. I got one on my JTD a while back which read. Boost value Implausable

I'd guess the downstream lambda sensor on 'bank one' has sent some wierd readings to the ecu. As Joss says, best to leave it and see if you get a repeat.
