I need help with my GT 2.0 JTS. It recently started showing the Engine Control Failure light and, at the same time, the fuel gauge dropped to zero. Had a local (non-Alfa) garage look at it and their diagnostics suggested the throttle body was faulty. They replaced it. The same fault codes have now come back apparently with another suggesting an ecu fault. With the fault codes cleared the car drives ok until the engine control failure light returns and the fuel gauge plummets. It then wont rev above 3000rpm and throttle action is jerky.
This is my 5th Alfa and I'm definitely loosing the love. It has not yet done 50k miles but has already had a new head gasket this year (£1600) and now wants even more of my money.
Any ideas out there? If it does need a new ecu what would I expect to pay. Given my past loyalty to Alfa, I am tempted to ask them for a contribution even though the car is out of warranty. My view is that a car of this age and mileage simply shouldn't be this bad. Anyone else tried this?
Thanks in advance
