156 1.8, weak! Have I got a dog?! Help
Hi, hoping someone may have some wise words.
156 1.8 sportwagon, 100k miles, I'm really unimpressed and fear issues!
The engine has no power, revs remain high (as if i was still pressing the throttle) through gear changes, pulling power under 2.5k revs is poor and yet the engine almost refuses to rev over 4k revs. When re-starting car the car sounds like a diesel.
Next issue is a sound like the suspension is made from old lady's hips. Creaking and noisy. I've replaced the arms (incl bushes) but not made a big improvement in the noise.
Third prob is that the intermittent wipers are intermittent, and I have to manually stop the wiper blades at the 'off' position, or the wipers simply remain wherever they were when I flick the stalk to stop.
4th issue is crunch into 3rd gear. I suspect it's synchromesh. So I let the revs die-off before engaging gear and avoid any speedy 2nd to 3rd changes.
It's the first issue causing me most bother because currently it's making me hate driving the car. I'm concerned at going straight to a garage without know what needs to be done, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
