Alfa 147 doesnt' start. Immobilizer failure and ASR failure
my Alfa 147 1.6 T.S. 2001 engine went off today while driving and after I parked it I noticed the dispaly was showing an ASR failure and immobilizer failure warnings. I managed to start the engine for another 10 seconds and then it never started again.
The RAC guy tried to get it fixed and by unplugging the battery in order to reset the system, he then checked the fuses and also unplugged the ingnition wires with no luck.
He then spoke to some Alfa Romeo mechanic over the phone who said he is 100% sure it's a damaged engine ECU because he says there's no engine light showing at all now.
I remember that engine shaped light used to swich on every time I started the car and then it used to go off after a few seconds once the engine was on. It doesn't go on at all now. He also said the engine ECU might got damaged because I bump started the car before replacing the battery about month ago.
I understand the engine ECU needs to be some specific model number and I think I found one online, is there any particular procedure that needs to be done after replacing it i.e. plugging the Alfa computer in and initialize/reset it or something?
I would like to have an idea of what the problem may be before getting the car to any mechanic. Any suggestion will be much much apreciated.
