Ok, here's the tale of woe that has led me to this...
In June 2009 after searching for 4 months and driving hundreds of miles (literally...) to find the perfect 147 - I found it. '52 reg, 40k miles, beautiful condition throughout etc... It was well worth the stress and wasted journeys of the last 4 months.
So, in September 2009, about 2 weeks after paying for a cam belt service at Autolusso, when some Astra driving toss pot smashed into the back of it on a dual carriage way - I was fairly unimpressed.
What followed was 6 months of insurance company incompetence hell. I bought the car back from the insurance company, it returned with extra damage received at their 'holding facility', we had to fight for any help or money whatsoever, eventually I paid a fortune to get it repaired and road worthy again - but it was worth it.
I have been driving it again for about 3 months - and now the ****ing head gasket has gone
I lost my job 6 weeks ago, so there is absolutely no way I can afford to get it sorted in a garage. And tbh even if I had a job I don't think I could bring myself to spend any more money on it...
Generally, I've gone through hell with this thing after putting so much effort into finding it, and this latest set back has just totally gutted me at what was a crap time anyway
So, if there is anyone that is competent enough to take this job on with me for the princely sum of a few drinks - please get in touch.
I rebuilt the engine of my mk2 golf many years ago, but this engine is way beyond my ability or tool box...
Sorry for the sob story - just needed a bit of a vent
