Tried to change cambelt now untold problems
If it aint broken don't fix it comes to mind !!!!!
I had an oil leak couple of months ago and was leaking over the cambelt (which is only about 3000 miles old) so ordered a new cambelt to change it out a little while ago.
When I sorted the oil leak i noticed the cambelt was rubbing on the cover.
OK so got new cambelt and new cambelt cover. The cambelt was rubbing on the cover and cut into it hence the new cover (from alfa dealer).
The belt is wrong, even after supplying my chasis number when i ordered it is too long. So refited the old belt for now and it still rubs on the NEW cover!
The car will also no longer rev above 3000rpm.
Any ideas why the belt runs on the cover? The old cover looks bent so thought the new one would be ok.
Im none the wiser as to the rev prob either? the car was started during the fitting of belt before engine was completely put back together to test if all ok and revved ok then?
Will plug alfadiag in tommorrow to see if get any more clues, but the rubbing is really bothering me.
Any info will be great guys.
