Ex 155 owner getting 156...

Just sold my 155, my 1st Alfa, and am going to look at a 2000 156 1.8 tomorrow... 100k miles, with some history and mot'd for 9 months....
Anything in particular to look for? It will be due a belt change as last one was at 76k...
Hoping it uses less fuel than the 155 as I have a daily 60 mile round trip, diesel would be better but so much dearer to buy!

Any thoughts or comments appreciated!

For a 2000 I'd also look for corrosion on the floor pans and whether the wishbones and roll bar have been replaced. Clutch may also be about to expire.

Got a nice silver 1999 jtd up for sale soon. Once MOT'd. Loads done on it and 40-55 mpg..

I be wary of any twin spark with less than a full history - low oil level, infrequent oil changes, etc, etc. As the other guys mention rust would be a worry on a 2000 model and the various suspension components that can expire.

Unless you're coming from a V6 155 I wouldn't say your fuel economy would be much better! 156 is a completely different animal than a 155. Very nice to drive IMO but very different at the same time.
