147 Wing Mirror Stalk Breakage - Help!

Hi All,

Someone has broken my driver's side wing mirror (I suspect the bin men). All plastics and glass are intact but the whole housing has been broken off the door. By this I mean it is hanging off by the plastic triangle which sits flush against the door. I am concerned as the internal metal frame is the bit that has given way (completely sheared off). Can anyone tell me what sort of a task I am facing here to mend this? Does the internal metal frame of the mirror form part of the detachable structure of the component, so if I purchase another mirror will this part be included or is it just the plastics that can be replaced with the metal 'skeleton' being a different part altogether? Can I detach the whole thing (including the metal part) from the inside of the door?

Sorry for the tedious question. Any tips would be gratefully received.

yes the mirror is attached to the door with allen screws, the plastic cover can be prised off and replaced with one of the correct colour - you may need to glue it back on if you break some clips
