My Alfa 147 Selespeed was perfect for the first 8 months. No problems at all (other than a few pre-delivery issues). The last few months the Selespeed system has failed 4 times, leaving me stuck in the middle of a busy road. I've had other issues with the Airbag, etc. So, I too am completly fed-up with this. It is inconvienient - a car is part of life, especially in a county with no reliable public transport. You pay so much for the car, so that you can have issues like these?
So, my point: If BMW, Merc, etc. are all having similar issues, then what's going on here? Are the designers spending too much time on the looks of the car, and not doing enough long-term wear-and-tear testing? Surely there needs to be better controls on something that is potentialy a health hazard? (accidents, etc.) So, at what point is this 'highway robbery'?
Are the cars getting so technical that the support is not able to keep up. Mechanics nowadays probably have to be computer literate to understand these cars, it's no longer just a case of replace that, or fasten this, etc.
We all know how reliable MS Windows is!

His X5 was much worse...you turn on the headlights and your boot opens. Also same problem with front right door (maybe BMW made it on purpose). Brake problems, transmisition. Maybe the only thing that didnt brake on that car was the engine (for now).
VW golf, according to Auto Bild (auto !s!h!i!t) golf is the most "reliable" car. Even that their customer review says; problems in everything...maybe only the steering wheel doesnt fall apart.
Now Alfa...Ok we want everything to be perfect. Today a friend of mine got his 156 2.4jtd from the service (he was the former alfa dealer for Bulgaria, so evertyhing is still free for him) ....He puts the volume on the radio to zero...then he goes over a pothole and says; did you hear that little noise coming from the back of the car. OK COME ON people...do the same with bmw or a merc. the noise is even worse...BUT if you were driving BMW or Mercs. you will say that is normal...if it was a Toyota and the noise is like the car falling apart, you will say; ok what the f344ck it is a s!h!i!t! box so who cares if it does brake apart. BUT we the Alfisti are not normal so we want to hear only the engine noise, drive the car like maniac on and off-road and after that nothing to happen on the car...Well I have a family relative who had a Alfa 33 sportwagon 4x4...for 4 years he didnt change the oil, nor he did any service on the car...even that the car was mostly on mounting off-roads (due to his snowboarding habits) and when he finally was able to crash the car over a huge rock...HE said: damn it was really hard to brake this car. His next car was a Honda Shuttle something again 4x4...only lasted for 4months (during the summer) until the engine was blown-up....
So dear Alfisti....Come on; remember the smile on your face everytime you look at your car, every time you sit in it, every time you go on the street and every one looks at you. All the nice ladies looking at you and so on....
p.s: My former cars were; Subaru Justy, Honda prelude, Suzuki swift, Subaru Impreza, Ford Fiesta and a BMW 325 coupe....now I have the 147 jtd Alfa Rosso...I have choosen the car due to my love for alfa and also after trying everything else: such as Audi A3-2.0tdi (new model) , BMW 320td compact, 320d...Merc, 220CDI sport coupe, Renault Megane II, Ford Focus, Seat Leaon, Ibiza, Subaru Impreza (new model), Opel Astra, Skoda, Fiat, Kia, Mazda 6 2.0CD, Volvo S40, Peugeout 307...and my choice was Alfa 147 jtd or Mazda 6 2.0CD (because the mazda is an copy of alfa, dashboard and everything...just take a look at the new mazda 3 and the RX-8)...well I do preffer the Alfa a 1 000times....
Now having my Alfa for 5 months and done with it 14 800km on the worse roads in Europe with the disel fuel that su$#%cks not having a single fault with the car I can say...ALFA is the car for me...and with the story of how I got this car...I can even say that this car was made for me... but I will write that on a new topic some day.
Jomor, sorry that I went a little of topic...I hope that you will fix your bella as soon as posible and the she will give you more pleasure then before...
