sticking throttle pedal
Just come back after a 750 mile round trip to the lakes in our 156 sportwagon. No problems until when going up a hill near home we overtook a couple of cars. As we pulled in the car seemed to keep pulling at this point approaching a bend - foot hard on the brake and still not slowing much!
Good job Alfas go round bends because went round far too fast for comfort. Realising the throttle was stuck I dipped the clutch and watched the revs bounce off the limiter. I kicked around at the pedal and the problem went away.
Have just had a good look at the pedal and it feels like it catches on something as it gets to about 90% of its travel. However there is nothing catching the pedal lever. (or along its length) I cannot get it to repeat being stuck down - it just kind of catches about 1 inch off the stop rubber but always comes back up when released. Just about to disconnect it from the potentiometer lever to see if it is the lever, link bar or potentiometer that is at fault but would welcome any advice or ideas...
