Bad news !..........airbag light stayed out for 3 days , got a cancellation for the NCT.....brought it in .
Couldn`t believe it when the tester advised I failed only on one item ........damned airbag light !!!......it came on during the test.....car had no other defects....not even minor ones ! The retest is just a free visual to pass ( if the light is out ) My guess is it came back on when he tugged at the belts to see would they lock . Light is now intermittent. The connector I disturbed was the one closest to the drivers pretensioner, (as per FiatECUscan ) . Two light yellow wires coming out of the long tube jutting upwards from the inertia reel belt. They enter a connector clipped onto the body of the reel . The connector can be released from the reel body by releasing a little leg, prise to one side to unclip ( You might need a mirror to see it , I pushed the little leg to one side with a tiny screwdriver. and it then would slide out. I had the car battery disconnected ( not ECU ) for approx 30 min before I disconnected anything. The connector will then seperate , again using the tiny screwdriver, it`s a bit fiddley. I`m going to go at this connector again , I think I`m in the right place, and douse it in switch cleaner and reconnect. They looked fine the last time...no corrosion or bent pins. Hopefully it will put the light out again after 6 starts
( Fiatecuscan didn`t put it out the last time , it went out itself ) . If it goes out....a quick trip into the NCT centre and let the tester see it go out.
That`s the plan............if it doesn`t work I will chase the connectors at and before ( as per e-learn ) the ECU and get the p/n off it too...............fingers crossed...........dannyboy.
