Help - No throttle - solved
Thought I would update anyone who is interested, and anyone who may do searches in the future on here. Seemingly random problems are a complete pig.
So, as I said car was with a specialist. They checked all the likely components given the symptoms, found and soldered up poor connections etc. Nothing doing. I discussed with them this morning the situation, and personallly wondered if i would drive it again given the likely cost of further investigations,(the ecu was on my mind}.
2pm phone call, sorted. They had done a final check on the right hand ecu connector, and in the part containing the pins, found a single strand of copper wire, the fine stuff about as thick as a hair. It had somehow got in there and was shorting the pins. My guess is that when I had removed the plug to spray contact cleaner, although already there, I dislodged it which then caused mayhem, random codes etc. This compounded and disguised the original problem which I believe was infact a duff maf, since the car now runs better than before.
So, hearty praise to my specialist, who I would recommend, Sunnyside Garage in Dagenham. Lets face it they were straight as a die about it, could have charged me more or less anything for the time they spent on it over two days, but only asked me for a very modest labour charge, and I mean modest. I'd use them again for sure.
