156 2.0 TS Exhaust Manifold Leak
Since I've owned my 156 2.0 TS, I've noticed a ticking sound when starting from cold which disappears after about a minute, when the manifold warms up. Jamie Porter confirmed this when I had my cam belt replaced. The engine is the cf3 version with 3 cats, today after a struggle I removed the manifold hoping to find an obvious crack in the manifold or a gasket problem, but there appears to be nothing obvious that I can see. The gasket is metal in three layers and seems to my eyes to be ok, other than it's brown towards the edges in some areas and the manifold looks fine with no cracks.
Should I just replace the gasket and go from there? And lastly I noticed there is no gasket on the bottom of the manifold which meets the down pipe with the two pre cats, do I need to use any sealant when I bolt it back together?
