Inconsistent throttle response

Hey all,
been trying to solve this over the last while....

My 2001 1.8 TS has an issue where gentle acceleration is not a problem but stomping on the accelerator results in a cough before bothering to think about jerking into a higher gear and deciding to rejoin the party.....

This is apparent at a standstill in particular.
I have done the following work:
unplugged MAF and car ran better generally (I knew I needed a new one)
replaced MAF and car ran a lot better
Noticed this hesitancy when flooring accelerator
Checked plug ports for oil/water - all clean removed plugs also and all in fine condition
checked all connections for pedal - no issues
also used alfadiag to go through lambda actuators - all in apparent working order

Generally there is not a performance issue - this manifests itself as jerky gear changes under swift driving and in a hesitant take off when turning right off a main road or at roundabouts (which is a the main worry)

Any ideas?

Girlie Fiat driver: "You got a new car?"
Me: "Yep and I love it"
GFD: "Alfa though.... Aren't they supposed to be unreliable"
Me (looking over her shoulder at her Punto and laughing inwardly): "So they say......"

try a throttle reset, had a similar problem with mine and cured it with a throttle reset.

heres the link

just do the throttle reset part and don't bother with the ecu reset unles you still have the problem

Did throttle reset before and no improvement. Tried it all again throughout yesterday......
Throttle reset - no ghange
ECU reset - no change
Used Fiatecuscan to reset adaptive parameters followed by throttle reset - no change.

So still stuck with it.....
