when do you check you're oil ?

starting to get a bit paranoid about the oil on my 2.0 t spark 147 - I've been religeously checking it first thing in the morning before starting the engine - just had a look in the manual and it said to check the oil 5 mins after the engine has stopped - would this make a huge difference ?

Re: when do you check you're oil ?

It means don't check it less 5 Minutes after it has stopped. You need to let it all settle back in to the sump, or it will look lower than it is.
You also need it on a level piece of road, or again it will be a false reading.

Re: when do you check you're oil ?

I check mine weekly just before a run, the oil then forms a nice clean, straight line across the dipstick whare it has settled overnight. No need to remove dipstick, wipe, reinsert and remove again to read. Unless there is a catastrophic leak/problem, this should suffice.
