Can anyone help with Luigi
Hi I've got a couple of little niggles with 'Luigi' my 156 1.9 JTDm - just looking for ideas and help ..
Firstly... When I first start him, more so when cold or been stood a while his engine seems to rev up and down , this is not visible on the rev counter only by hearing, and feeling. He doesn't struggle to start - but sounds like he's going to cut out - but pulls back again and after 15 -20 seconds is then ok.
Secondly ... This week I broke down .. well ... not so much broke down but stopped just in case any damaged was being done ..
This is what happened..
In the morning I had noticed a dry sounding noise coming from in front of the steering wheel - to me it sounded and felt belt driven. The reason I say its a belt driven sound is that on my trek down Linc's each day there are stretches of the road that i can just free wheel on. The noise is not there unless i put my foot on the accelerator - In a rush to get to work I just thought I was being 'fussy' given the fact I spend 4 hours a day driving too and from work, I do tend to pick up on his moans and groans prob more so than most .. so I put it to one side at that time. On the way home ... the noise was still there, however, Luigi developed a vibration - basically it sounds like something is loose and needs tightening (hope that makes sense) again coming front in front of the steering wheel..
So after an hour of carefull driving - I suddenly looked at the temp gage it was going crazy... it wasn't just fluctuating it was up and down constantly ... This was the moment i decided to stop.!
So .. off on the back of a tow truck Luigi went to the garage ... and there he has been till I collected him today .. Anyway .. I had an electrical fault and engine 'knock' and is running fine .. However .. the loose vibrating thing is still there .. so any ideas please ..
Oh ... FYI ... the belts & tensioners are all good, water pump too , but then again they should be as they were only done in January (at a Bosch Service Centre when i bought him) , but I have done over 24k miles since.. To be honest I've replaced most things on Luigi and he has had 3 services this year too . So you can see I don't skimp on maintenance and repairs - just would like my boy running correctly ..
If you have any thoughts or questions for me about what I've had done please ask me ..
