Looking at a 147 - slight vibration on takeoff
First post - hello all!
I'm looking at a 147 TS 2.0 after owning a series of 1980s Alfas (33, 75, GTV). The car I'm looking at is in good shape overall - well overdue for a cam belt, but I'm using that as a bargaining point and will replace immediately.
I've looked for the other classic 147 problems - it's a manual, so no worries with Selespeed, and the warning lights and suspension check out just fine, as does the bonnet catch. It also starts quietly so the variator is probably fine.
My one mechanical concern is that on takeoff I felt a bit of a shudder as the clutch was taking up. Of course it might just be a lack of low-end torque, or me not giving it the right revs to engage first, but I just thought I would ask if there was a known issue that this might point to.
The engine starts perfectly, idles quietly and spins freely out to 6-7k or so (I didn't dare try anything higher!). Car seems otherwise well looked after.
Thanks for the excellent advice I've already read on these forums, and for any insights you might have about this particular question.
