147 2.0 Rear Light Problem

Hello Everyone

I have just purchased my first Alfa Romeo a week ago which is a 2001 147 2.0 Lusso.

Yesterday each time I started the car a warning came onto the dash telling me "RIGHT SIDE LIGHT FAILURE" and then when you are travelling along the light symbol stayed on constantly.

Then last night I parked up and noticed the drivers side rear light was on even after I had turned everything off and locked the car. The only way I can turn off the light is by pulling out the wires from the back of the light so I dont run the battery flat.

Has anyone got any ideas of what this might be and what I might need to do to sort out the problem.

Many Thanks
