Recommend the fibreglass repair option!!
Mine broke last monday. Started hunting around for metal, bolts, nuts, grinders, saws, etc. then saw this thread and thought "hmmm, all I'll need is fibreglass and a few cheap throw away brushes from the $2 Store."
Bought fibreglass Tuesday, back in the car Wednesday! You can barely tell it's been repaired. Very, very simple way to fix the problem. Thanks for posting this option Powercut.
PS cost of repair $2.50!! (the fibreglass resin cost $14.95 but most of it's still left and I'll find other uses)
PSS the most difficult part is removing the scuttle panel. Once the screws are removed pull it straight up!! Don't twist, bend or anything else! There's these very simple, basic push-in clips that hold both parts in place. JUST PULL STRAIGHT UP and push straight back down again when replacing.
