Mooney selespeed stuck in neutral

hi all
My selespeed 156 pre facelift 2003 model is at the alfa specialist. The car will not shift out of neutral. After 2 days investigating, it seems that something has made the gears stuck, like something is in the gearbox, like a lug or piece of broken metal. I will tell u more when i find out. What i like to know is if u have heard of this before and under what circumstances, could this happen. it has done 8600km over 4 months.

Re: selespeed stuck in neutral

Hey Mate.

I had a similar issue in what must have been the same model. It actually got stuck ... and I mean really stuck in1st. It was actually my brother's car that I was minding for a few months .... anyhoo.

I found the gears were getting a bit "sticky" for a few days and sometimes it would be hard to get it into "N" to start the thing.

So one night - it finally got completely stuck in 1st and I could do a thing.Though Alfacare, it ended up at the dealers (Melbourne) and they replaced the - now I'm not real techie - Selespeed oil pump. Which I guess lubricates the gearbox thinggy.

Since then it has never been better - smooth gear changes etc .... that was like 8 months ago.

The Selespeed Pump pressurises the Selespeed fluid for the Selespeed Actuator to allow it to select gears & move the clutch.

If you are loosing Selespeed fluid pressure, the pressure accumulator (which holds pressure in the system) should also be looked at, it is part of the Selespeed Actuator.
