When it isn't (as they new it wouldn't be) they put a new one in, ostensibly under Warrenty. Sounds like a bit of a rip off to me.
Wonder how well the JTS Cam Belts are lasting, I might ask that very question Tomorrow night at the GT launch.
I just got quoted £320 for the 36,000 service at my local (Desira Hertford) dealer. Was told this includes £150 to check the cambelt (they actually take it right off to check the inside too). The interesting thing is whether, if it does
need changing (under warranty), do they then refund the £150 'cos it needed changing anyway and it was covered by the warranty?
Look back a few posts and this seems to be what happened to Kristian Benning.
Interesting point, especially as we are talking about £150!!
As a point of interest, I asked the guy in reality whether they tended to change them and he said yes, even if it looked kind of OK, if they didn't and the engine blew up 3mths later, they'd be picking up the tab.
I should imagine the real price of the belt is actually pretty small and if they've got the old one in their hand looking at it, they might as well do it.
BTW, my pollen filter was changed at 24,000, don't think they do it at the 36,000. And it was only £20.
