Hi ya fellow alfa owners, I have very recently just join you all in owning an alfa 156 2.0TS, I had been looking on the internet at alfas for a while now and kind of fell in love, i went to a car auction and couldn't believe what the car was going to go for, so I got it.
It had full service history and was at 87K miles and had its cambelt done at 72k so the next on would be at 109K, I thought fantastic, but there were a few problems to sort out,
oh well it was a auction I guess, I got my baby a new thermostat temp sender unit, and I noticed the radiator was looking worse for wears, went through 3 diferent ones till the stupid supplier got me the right one, which left me cycling 24miles a day for a week and a half
Any way the car had always ticked loudly on start up for 30 secs then quietened down,
but when I went to leave work this friday the ticking seemed a little louder and didn't stop
I wonder if when they did the the cam belt change at 72k if they changed the variator? Probably not
Is it worth doing the cam belt again when its only done 15-16K on the old one,
or just lock the cams slacken the belt change the variator and tighten it all back up and keep my fingers crossed
Any advise would be greatly appreciated,
Cheers for your time mates from Adam Laing.
