156 break squeak, when I'm not breaking
Can anyone help me!?!
I bought my first Alfa two weeks ago, a 156 1.9 JTD 16v, 2004. Approximately 2 days after I purchased the car I noticed a small squeak when I turned left at between 30 - 40 miles per hour, this seemed to be intermittent as it only happened after I'd been driving for approximately 10 minutes.
The car has been into my mechanics for a power steering fault, I also asked him to look at the brakes / suspension to see if there was anything that could be causing it. He said everything looked fine and couldn't identify what the problem was. He took apart the brake calipers, copper greased the back of the pads and silicone greased the runners, which seemed to solve the problem for about 2 days.
The pads are genuine fedro alfa romeo parts, but this problem keeps on recurring. Yesterday the squeak came back when I was driving down a straight road at 60. I have noticed if I drive enthusiastically and get temperature into the brakes the squeak seems to go temporarily.
Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this and how I can resolve it?
