First time poster here.
I have a late 2003 156 1.9 JTD SW with 240,000 kms to it, did all the milage on my own. It was chipped for the first 160,000 km, great fun
, but this probably have lead to the problem I now have.
The 6 speed gearbox has developed a bad habit of not wanting to go into reverse when the engine has been shut off. I cope with it by putting it in reverse before shutting off the engine. Also first gear sometimes have a whining sound to it when taking off, in which case it is sticking and I have to apply force to get it out and into second.
At first I thought a worn clutch to be the problem, so I had this changed without any effect (the clutch was slipping anyway). The garage tried greasing the external arms of the gear box in the operation and checked if they were bent, but also to no avail.
Now, has anybody have experienced the same? Apart from an exchange/rebuild job, what are the options?
Thanks in advance!
