Tuning a 1.9JTD 16v, What Parts do YOU Want?
As a new owner myself of a SW with a 6 Speed 1.9 JTD 16v Multi Jet, i'm keen to modify it to similar levels, maybe more than my own already stinking 2.4 10V. I will be custom building the following parts prior to finishing of with an Angel map and maybe some rolling road time if i can get it at the right price.
In doing so, i'm going to be building my own De-Cat section to the flange joint, and from the flange again my own Free Flow Cat Back exhaust system, all from T304 Stainless, and possibly going to take a pattern and jig throughout the process to reproduce the De-Cat section at least for other owners too if there is interest?
I know there is a small pre-cat section already available in mild steel, and i won't want to step on any toes, so mine will promise to be substantially different as an alternative.
Also, the dreaded weakness of the upper and lower turbo hoses...
I considered making these as Hard Pipes in T304 again, and then attaching with silicon / rubber joint hose to allow some flex.
Any thoughts on this from the boffins?
And finally, to do away with the awful stock airbox, i considered again Hard Piping down to a quality Cotton Cone Filter down to the same cool corner, maybe some shielding aswell to prevent any heat soak.
So, firstly, would you guys agree that these are all worthwhile mods, secondly, any particular way that you personally would like it done if it were on your own car, and finally, if these could be produced in small numbers, do you think you'd be interested in buying any of them?
Any comments, advice, and other parts suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
lets just make a great car, even better....
