Engine swap Q's???

Just sat ponderring.....
Currently got a sportwagon and want to get the most power out of it as possible...to upgrade my 2.0ltr engine to a v6 how much off a job would it be???

Or is it acheivable to get the 2.0 ltr to the same standards and if so what best way to go about it.

Cheers fellow alfa owners!!!

Tuning the 2.0 to nearly 200 bhp is possible but would be very peaky and prob less reliable than std (if thats possible!!! (Joke!). It would never have the torque and smoothness of aV6.... at least without forced induction....which would be very expensive.

So much needs to be changed to fit the V6 (to do a proper job at least) it would be cheaper to buy a V6 engined car in the first place.

156 V6

I recently paid £900 for a 2.5 V6 that has had loads of work done to it. Compare that to the cost of a recon engine, fitting etc and I don't think there is any contest.

No, not much is the same. Engine mounts, gearbox, driveshafts, loom, ECU, clocks, subframe, the list goes on.

It could be done, but the way to do it would be to buy a rear-ended V6 and use it as a donor car and do a full re-shell job. It has been done, there is someone on here that has done it, but unless you can do it yourself its just not worth it.

There is a 156 V6 Q-system for sale on pitonheads (in the parts section) for £200, it has thrown up some sort of warning light and has reduced the power/ killed the engine. It may be a good donor car
