Cleaning the throttle body - Fly by wire throttle
I want to clean the throttle body on my 2.0 ts, normally this would be an easy task, take the body off and scrub it up with brake cleaner, dry and put it back in, this was on cable throttled cars though and i have heard many stories of people braking there cars when doing this to a fly by wire throttle car.
I think i understand why this happens, if you where to move the valve while off the car you could brake the electronic servo mechanism or perhaps loose the timing (if there is such a thing).
So would i be right in thinking, if i remove the throttle body and remove the servo before touching the valve, then re-assemble without disturbing anything, i should be ok? I would also disconnect the battery to be on the safe side first.
Can anyone spot any glaring errors in the above?
