In a sea of gloom and despair
Wife bought a 147 used Selespeed 3 years ago.
The missus knows less than me about cars, and I know nothing. But when she got in...well yknow that red glow reflecting off the chrome door plates?? That sloping bonnet and the Alfa badge?
After a brief round the block, she signed up for crippling repayments, but with a smile.
We were told by everyone not to buy it because of the selespeed, but when the wife smiles what you going to do?
We keep the Alfa serviced as per schedule and do what the Alfa dealer tells us to do.
After 3 years, with only the radiator hose blowing, the wife still loves the car. Then on Friday we park up at the gas station and fill up. Turn the engine on after gassing the car and.....no gears!!!!
Terror creeps in (we are still paying it off and money is tight in NZ).
Get the car towed to Continental Cars in Newmarket Auckland (blatant plug but these guys are good guys). Visions of disaster haunt the missus all weekend and after reading some of the posts here I was less than optimistic.
Today we found out the pump had fused, been fixed at a cost of $200 NZ and a nice bunch of flowers from the dealer as a thank you for our custom.
So, to those of you who post here with realistic and optimistic advice...thanks. I was able to keep the wife from sinking into the depths of despair by showing her your posts.
Continental Cars..Cheers guys!
Alfa, 147 Selespeed, the wife loves it!
