Re: The 6 speed box on the 156 2.5
I am guessing that because the v6 likes, or needs to be revved, they put a close ratio 'box in it.
And it is a brilliant 'box, a real joy to use (only thing is I need another finger to count what gear I'm in)
Wether a car has got an "Overdrive" or not does not affect wether or not it will rev out in top, thats down to the power of the engine being man enough to overcome weight and areodynamic forces. And the 2.5 pulls strongly in 6th from around 2000rpm upto, well I can't find out on a public road.......
Of course it does accelerate faster thru. the gears, thats what they are there for.
2.0 ts = 8.6 seconds very impressive (quicker than my old 5.7l Vette)
2.5 V6 = 7.3 seconds . 1.3 seconds at this level is a big difference, so the 2.5 is 15% qiucker to 62mph
