Not Happy Outch. The engine seized on our 156 1.8TS

Driving along the M32 last Friday, the engine seized on my wife's Y-Reg Alfa 156 1.8TS Veloce It was recovered to a local Fiat garage who say that the "engine coolant surround" failed. It will be 1500 just in Labour to effect a repair so, i think the car is dead. It's a shame cos its a nice car and everything else apart from the engine, works just fine.

Looking for a replacement Alfa right now but, what should i do with the old one? Scrap it or put it on Ebay "spares or repair"?

Not sure where it is in relation to you, but there's a guy in ebay supplying and fitting a reconditioned engine from 775 for a 2.0L. I'm not sure what a 'water coolant surround' might mean.... But a complete new engine should solve it. Otherwise yea, put it up for SorR and someone might take it on as a project car providing the rest of the car is reasonable.

Sorry about your loss!!!
