147 JTDm

Newbie needing advice on 147 purchase

I am a newbie here on Alfa Owners Club! I am in the process of buying my first Alfa, specifically a 147 JTDm!

I have a question I was hoping someone could help me with, a little techy so didn't wanna post in the newbie section.

I am unsure whether to go for an 06 plate model and buy the Q2 differential upgrade (approx £300) or lump up the extra cash for the Q2 limited sports edition model. The price difference is £2-3k. The only differences I can discern are that the sports model has been lowered, slightly stiffer and improved suspension and new anti roll bars. Obvioulsy if I fitted the differential to an 06 model I wouldn't have these.

This sounds like the extra changes will make the car more composed and flatter round corners but my major question is whether added together they make a big enough difference to justify the extra car price?

I hope someone can help!

Unless you are doing it yourself a Q2 will cost you a bit more than £300 - Autolusso are quoting £450 for supply only and £600 fitted (which is about going rate).

AL would probably do you eibach ARB kit and Q2 for less than a grand although you may be okay with 147 GTA ARBs which may well be what is on the Q2 147, it's an upgrade I did to my old 1.6 147 that radically changed the handling for the better, might also want to think about a front upper strut brace if handling is your thing.

The JTDm is a cracking engine and with a remap gives serious grunt for your money.
