having just bought myself my latest addition, a 2004 1.9JTDm 16v Sportwagon, i was initially greeted by a rather notchy feeling clutch pedal, but, it was light, quick to return, and no slipping issues whatsoever.
i imagined the notchy feel to be coming from air in the system, and planned to improve things, but then whilst looking over the servcie history, i noticed the last mot had an advisory for leaking slave cylinder, so, fantastic i thought, i'll get me one of those and bingo!
so, new slave cylinder fitted, a ***** to bleed but cutch now present, but god is it heavy, and it takes about 2/3 seconds to return!
whats going on!
ive bled and bled and bled, (the old fashioned way, not a vac pump or anything fancy!) flushed out all the original fluid with new dot 4, so i just don't get it?
do i still have air in it that is just a beggar to get out?
ive read loads of threads on this issue but there doesn't seem to be a defintive answer, and half the thread starters end up saying " oh i'll live with it then!"
its not right, and it wants sorting, but i don't understand the theory of clutch pressure plate is work hardened as mentioned many times, it was perfectly light before changing the slave cylinder.
really ticking me off now, what do you techno's reckon?
