Looking to buy a GT

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of swapping my mito for a GT. I'm looking at getting a 08 Reg cloverleaf or black line but can't decide on the engine. It'll either be a 1.8 or 1.9 diesel (been told to avoid the 2.0). Any thoughts?

Of the two, I definitely go for the diesel & get it remapped.
I think you'd see a significant difference between the build quality of a GT compared to a MiTo. I love my GT to bits, but compared to the latest gen of Alfa's its not quite there as far as build is concerned. I've not yet driven a MiTo, but the drive on my GT is fine & at the moment I'm not thinking of changing it for anything else.
I do like the wheels on the cloverleaf model.
Pretty sure that the GT will be discontinued as a model in the near future, so values may well further drop. Get a well cared for, good spec model & if you're not worried about it being an "old" car, it should serve you well for years to come.

Go for the diesel out of those two - remapped it will be on par with a 2.5v6

Go for the 1.9, I tried both the petrol and diesel, no competition in my view. The 2.0 petrol was pretty gutless and on test I could barley get 30mpg. However the extra weight over the front of the diesel does I feel marginally affect the handling. Great looking car, much more practical than a Brera (which I also tested).

I have not gone down the remap route as power is quite enough for my needs, but am considering a suspension upgrade to make the car handle/sit a bit better (had a GTV previously and that was a better car to drive).
