Checking through the R&D notes we did get this problem with a faulty "CITY" mode switch - 156021401 £60 ish.
It was a dodgy joint in the box and a tap on the stick was enough to get it going again, but it wasn't left long enough to damage anything else.
Reading the codes with alfadiag today initially i got the following:
and "Failed Component Code: Insertion Range Sensor".
We have finally get it our of gear and get the engine running again after removing one of sensors. Specifically the one on the back close to the firewall and manually turning it to Neutral.
So the car is in Neutral now, the sele warning light is still flashing though and cannot select any gears, neither can go into "city" mode.
Reading the codes again I got the following:
1745 Failed Component Code: Switch Lever 0
1746 Failed Component Code: Switch Lever 1
1747 Failed Component Code: Switch Lever 2
1748 Failed Component Code: Switch Lever 3
I guess that has something to do with the gearstick mechanism but what worries me is that neither the gear lever nor the city button responds which i think they are using different wiring.
