Alfa 147 Problems!!!

Hi,i have a problem with my 2001 147. After 18 months of trouble free motoring we seem to have hit some bad luck.
One morning car refused to start turning over & over, left it for a few hours car started fine although the management light was on. Drove home about a mile no probs and the light went off.Magic car i thought(fixed itself!).Car then does this randomly for a few weeks although the last time the light stayed on. Now back off holiday and it wont start at all. As I'm stuck on the drive with no aa homestart,is it likely it will bump start as the battery has now died. The battery is barely 6mths old.
Had a very similar problem with a Vectra of mine which was diagnosed as the crankshaft sensor,is this the likely problem? Is this an expensive job,and can indy garages do this?
Many,many thanks.

Yeah as i thought, would the car bump start though? If i can roll 1/4 mile down the hill i can call the aa out and get them to diagnose it! Might as well use them as times are difficult at the mo!
Thanks for the replies...

No it wouldn't.

It's either crank sensor , a really dead MAF or something mechanicaland serious.
