Yes and no. When the A/C compressor is switched off, its clutch disengages it from the aux belt so there is no load on it what is virtually the same as removing it. Things like power steering pump or alternator make constant load on the aux belt.

For really racing applications the AC system is removed completely, not really to unload the aux belt, but to save weight (20-30 kg for the A/C system)

Removing AC compressor from the belt is doable, but you canít just use shorter belt as the removal would change its path and it would not fit the other pulleys with AC pulley missing.

But you could have fabricated some fake free revving pulley instead of AC to keep the belt running as it was. Orque makes one for example.

There isn't a belt that will allow for pump removal
Changed mine a couple weeks ago - it's only fixed with two bolts - the lower one being easy to access, the upper not so (bit fiddly as you are working 'blind' )
So wheel off & aux belt slackened using suitable 'pin' through tensioner
Two pipes removed from pump (assume you have had system de-gassed) - I also removed the pipe support bracket for a bit more play
Two bolts removed (one located through hole in alloy casting)
Pump removed & the procedure reversed
Fairly simple really
