Looking for a bit of advice after buying my first Alfa last week. It's a 55 plate GT 1.9JTDm on 54k and its really a brilliant car. I've only owned one car before this: it was a '97 306 1.9td on 116k, so the difference is night and day
However, I'm having a problem with the aircon and I think the dealer might be feeding me BS, so I'm looking for a bit of advice really.
The (private non Alfa) dealer I bought it from recharged the the aircon before I picked it up and for the first 2 days after that, it was really cold. Now, when I turn on the aircon, it just blows out warm air and doesn't go cold at all.
I took it back to them yesterday and he told me to bring the car in a week on Monday (as they are busy) and they will send it to be looked at, but this is making me suspicious as it's then outside the 14 day cooling off period.
He also said if it was the compressor, this was too big a job and they wouldn't do the work under the 3 month warranty they offer as standard. He said they would buy the car back off me and then sell it on without aircon.
I don't want to just hand the car back, but I would like the aircon fixed or at least for the dealer to pay something towards it. So, should I ask for some money back? If so, how much should I ask for?
