Leaking fluid.... possible coolant
I've got an Alfa 156 1.8 TS X-reg and about 3 months ago has a new engine put in by Auto Lusso. Seems to be running absolutely fine but i've noticed that i've got a bit of a leak from the engine bay. It seems to be dripping to ground on the near side, beneath where the battery is located. I can't seem to see anything from a birds eye view and can only see slight residue from underneath. The staining on the floor is is no bigger than 5 inches in diameter.
I noticed it as soon as it came back from Auto Lusso after having the engine fitted and they looked at it when I had the engine oil changed at 500 miles. They said that it was nothing to worry about and I assumed that it was just excess oil on the moving compnents from when the new install took place. I've been checking the all levels pretty readily since as i don't want the car to go BOOM but i noticed today that the liquid is actually pink and less viscous, therefore can't be engine oil. First thoughts was power stearing fluid, checked the levels and at max.
The only other thing it could possibly be is coolant but my coolant is the blue variety so i'm a little confused. The Engine management light did come on briefly a few weeks ago and I plugged it into a console and it said that the Engine coolant was at 38 deg at 2 km/hr or something. As the light went off and 38 deg didnt seem at all high at all I ignored this. Piecing it together it seems to me to be coolant but its only dripping at a very slow rate. Ive been topping up the water/coolant on a regular basis. If I do a long journey say 400-500 miles it will drop from max to min. Clearly I have a leak from somewhere but any ideas how bad it is?
Could anyone shed some light as to where it might be from, how costly to fix and if I keep driving it in its current state am i likely to kill the car? Or could it be some other fluid i've not thought of!
Any ideas, thoughts or assistance would be most appreciated.
