First serious problem with my 147, 6 months in. Anyway I'm getting quite heavy knocking from the steering when giving it any input and driving over rough ground, i.e. the s**** roads around here or things like cats-eyes. It's as smooth as ever to steer, but just going over these bumps... it's quite bad and has been getting worse the past week
Has anyone had any similar experiences? I'm going to the dealer pronto tomorrow in case the steering wheel sheers off or something
The dealer had a look at it today and it's a worn/lose universal joint in the steering column. Hopefully it can be done under warranty
Shad, I have the same problem with my car, the service told me that they have to change all the power steering because that small part that is knocking does not come separatly. How did the service fix it in your case ?
Right well basically, they first of all found some leaking power steering pipes which they changed (it was !!!!ing PAS fluid, good thing they noticed or I'd have been stuck without steering!). That didn't fix it.
Then they changed the front anti-roll bar and drop links. That helped it a bit, but it's still a problem.
It's going back next friday (friday 13th... what was I thinking!) to be looked at again. Wish they'd just replace the damn steering column and be done with it
