2.4 cambelt tensioner alignment - advice please
I am in the process of changing cambelt, water pump, aux tensioner and crank pulley. The guide for changing the cambelt (published here somewhere) states that the cambelt tensioner arrow should align with the hole in the tensioner backplate, makes sense as the new tensioner has a hole. However the one fitted to the car has the arrow aligned to the slot in the tensioner backplate (there is no hole), and the new one also has a slot in the backplate.
My intention is to align the new one to the hole then check by twisting the belt at certain points to see if it is the same as the old belt.
Any other options available to me to check that tension is correct?
