Possible new Alfa owner! Some assistance please?
I am currently looking at Alfa 147 JTD's my budget is showing me 2002/03 and a few 2004 ones.
I have my eye on a Black 2003 Lusso. I have done some reading on the forum and have asked the seller about specific things. The car is on 120K and has Full Service History including belts done at 80K (I believe this is a bit late?) I believe if it has been well looked after than the mileage for these engines is not an issue? Also is there only one Diesel engine variant for the 1.9?
I asked if there were any problems. He replied with the below. Any comments on what he has typed?
"Last service was an interim service in January at the same time as the
MOT, just had oil, filters and coolant. Its got a mixture of main
dealer and independent.
Since the service I have had the clutch master cylinder, lower turbo
hose and crank sensor replaced, all at the same Alfa specialist (Turin
Motors in Leeds).
Only issues with the car now are that the clutch is a bit heavy, but not
slipping, and the air-con needs a re-gas - although it does work, it is
just a bit 'weak' and takes quite a bit of time to blow cold."
The Air con is a mute point I have a friend who is a service manager at Audi so he can regas this for me. The clutch bit bothers me slightly. I am assuming that it is starting to wear out and will need replacing at some point in the future?
The price I can get the car for is pretty keen so I am not too fussed about spending a few ££ on it if/when needed. How much does a clutch change cost on these?
Any input would be great!
