Replacing Electric Window Motor

I've had my GT 2 1/2 months and when i first used the drivers window I noticed it squeek when going up or down, I read of here a bit for silicon spray would sort that but didn't get round to it, then for a couple of days it was making a grinding noise and I thought this isn't right but as the car was in the garage the following week to have the fuel pump replaced I'd mention it then.

Got in the car on Friday and the window ground to a halt halfway down and need some encouragement to come all the way up, the garage called to tell me the motor needs replacing and it'll cost £390. ouch. It's not covered under the 3 month warranty which is a pain but I'm quickly learning the Alfa 9-5 warranty is like an very good umbrella, very expensive and once you buy one, you will never use it.

I've searched here but I can't find an answer, I know the 147 and the GT share a lot of switchgear so I wondered whether a 147 window motor or repeater would be the same as the GT one, because they seem far more available and less expensive, has anyone any experience of this?

Any help would be very much appreciated.
