Help Selespeed Gearbox Re-Build

Hi,

I have got a Selespeed and the gearbox needs a re-build as I have been told many things are wrong with it, it may be thins such as clutch thrust bearing ect.

Looking around this is quite expensive, can anyone recommend a garage with a good price and that they trust or is anyone willing to do this for me as a private job?

This would I have been told be a clutch replacement too at the same time?

I would of course pay for parts and time but I am a little strap for cash after spending it all on the car!

Any offers would be much appreciated.

Ollie

PS - I am in IT so could help anyone else out too!

You and me were both stung bad buying Selespeeds with dodgy gearboxes, eh? It appears my box had been off before and someone must have done a rebuild on it before.

I hope you get it sorted, mines is back on the road and going brilliantly thanks to a great local mechanic who took heed of the advice he got from this forum.

FYI, parts were:

150 (50 P&P to NI) for used sele gearbox from Autolusso (will be 35 P&P on mainland)
173 (inc. P&P to NI) for 3 piece clutch kit (inc. thrust bearing) from EBspares
15 2 x 1litres Valvoline 75w90 gearbox oil

My labour charge came in very resonable, mainly because he enjoyed learning about the Selespeed (most mechanics would run a mile!) and I ordered up a KKL cable for the mech then set up a copy of FiatECUscan on his laptop so he could do calibration functions etc. that his expensive Bosch diagnostics gear was supposed to but didn't do.

It worked out for me in the end, I hope you get some good recommendations and get moving again without the crunch.

I thought you had already been out with Smaky and were getting a gearbox rebuild?
