147 1.6 newb

i am looking to buy a 147 1.6

I am only looking to spend a max 2500

Was wondering if anyone had any more tips other than....

checking for:

cam belt changed every 36,000 miles
variator changed at same time preferably
if sump is low or empty when i go to look at the car then just walk away
nice golden brown oil when checking....
spark plug change every 62,000miles
tensioner changed unsure how often tho?
upper wishbone problems
rear arm bush problems

considering im going to be looking at 100,000miles for the price im looking for, im going to need to see most of these in terms of receipts and full service history. just wondering if that's actually going to happen. Or if im going to be picking up a car that hasn't been looked after and im going to have to spend a grand on it within the first month!?

trying to see what you look out there experienced?

You will get one will a lot less than 100,000 for 2500.

Cambelt changes are a MUST but many variator changes slip throught the net.

If the oil is low the owner doesnt deserve to be driving an alfa......walk away laughing.

You'll be hard pushed to find one with golden brown oil unless the car has just had a service.

Spark plugs...should'nt be a problem as you'll be looking for a car with full service history.

If you're refering to the cambelt tensioner this will have been changed with the belt. If its the aux belt tensioner the car will sound like a milk float through the rev range.

Upper whishbones sound like a box of angry mice.

Theres plenty of 147's about so just take your time and find a well cared for example and you shouldnt go far wrong. The most important things are...Full service history and cambelts on time.
