Alfa 156 Selespeed PROBLEM Help diagnosis!
Just wondering if there is anyone that can help
I recently purchased the Alfadiag software to help diagnose a problem which keeps reoccurring and seems to be happening more frequently.
I like my car very much, handles and drives superb but this selespeed is giving me the ****s!!
The flashing selespeed light keeps coming up every week or so. I took the car for a drive around the block with the laptop plugged in. I was monitoring the selespeed pump pressure to role out a pump problem, to my surprise the pressure remained steady between 46-55 Bar only dropping when shifting.
A few weeks ago I plugged the laptop to see what’s going on and found the error code P1762, and just today after another “mishap” with the selespeed I found the fault code P1763. It seems the codes are related to the CAN connection. I parked the car in front of the garage and left to get the charger and extension lead. When I returned I turned the ignition on and found the selespeed light flashing again. I quickly booted the laptop up and got the alfadiag software working and found the selespeed pressure at 25Bar and no error codes. I popped the bonnet and opened the selespeed oil reservoir to found oil all the way to the top (usually it’s at maximum on the indicator). I also noticed a buzzing noise, sometimes with an increasing and decreasing intensity coming from the ecu on top of the throttle body. I disconnected the negative cable and disconnected the connections to the ecu. A few minutes later I reattached the connectors to the ecu and reattached the negative cable. When I reattached the negative cable to the battery I noticed a flash of light arcing from the negative pole to the negative terminal. I figured, that’s not good as something is connected when it should not. I noticed the selespeed oil in the reservoir now had receded and when I turn the ignition on I noticed the selespeed light now gone. I quickly reattached the alfadiag and found the pressure at 50Bar once again.
I’m curious to know if anyway has experience anything similar to what I described, and if anyone can point me in the right direction to resolve this problem once and for all.
My thought is bad connection, ie bad wiring or earth wires, second, the selespeed sensor is faulty.
Any help will be much appreciated
Thanks in advanced
