Hello 156 Lounge :) Can you help me?

Hey folks :bye:

We had to sell one of our 159s and need to replace it with something "sensible".

The "sensible" car of choice is a 156 Sportwagon Priced at somewhere upto 2k.

Can you help me a bit though?

I've seen a lovely 1.8TS - but 1.8 in a Sportwagon? Will I fall asleep driving it? It'll be mainly used for transporting us, Charlie and mountains of platic crap (and maybe a dog) along the A1/M62.

I've also seen a couple of 2.4JTDMs - but all over 100k. Does the mileage matter on these cars? I know the engine will be ok, but what about the rest of the car.

Finally, I've also seen a V6 with 106k on it for 1695. Am I mad to even be considering this?

When I say "seen" I mean on Pistonheads/Autotrader.

Anything I particular I should be looking for other than FSH, belts etc.
What do you think?

My 156 V6 has done 160K miles and still has plenty of life in it. Apart from checking that the cambelt has been done, crawl underneath and check for rust.
