Re: 156: Airfilter
There is a really cheap air filter mod that seems to get the best out of the TS engines.
Go and buy the sport filter from the AO shop.
GO to your local Alfa dealer and buy the air intake pipe from a V6 (it's about 10quid)
open your airbox, replce the filter, I think the 2.0's have the centre pipe take that out as well and fit the new inlet pipe, There is a more detailed set of instuctions with pictures somewhere that show you exactly what to do. I'm sure someone can post it here or youi can search for it....
it's a total mod cost of under £50 UKP and gets you most of the benefits of an induction kit, I had already fitted the Autodelta one (160quid) before finding this out to my old 156...
As posted above the key thing is to get cold air into the engine, the existing alfa kit does that, but if you use the piping from a larger engine you get better flow. At Times I wonder if these induction kits are "tested" with the bonnet up (so theycan wire into the ECU to getthe dyno readings). as that one can't help but pick up warm air from the engine bay or vented in warm air that has just passed through the radiator....
