Alfa 1.9 GT clutch slave fitment

Hi there

I bought a Alfa GT a month ago and now the clutch slave is leaking, I got a brand new cylinder and once I slided into place ang got the circlip in the correct place I noticed the clutch fork or slave cylinder has no play. Is this correct? or must I loosen the clutch fork and move it up on the spline?
