The "bulb out" warning light is controlled by a chip in the rev counter - this chip is know to be a bit fragile and blows. When this occurs one or a number of the rear lights stay on all the time albeit very dimmly, you can see this at night rather than in daylight, and the "bulb out" waring light stays on all the time even though all bulbs seem to be working properly - it will also create a constant drain on the battery which is how most people find the problem - a flat battery after not using the car for a few days.
You can fix this by replacing the blow chip (if your soldering skills are good enough) or by replacing the rev counter - if you search on rev counter issues you will find tht it is a regular issue.
