sorry guys if this turns into a rant-like thread but im after some (more) desperate advice.
Car had a major engine out job the other week. the old engine ran out of oil, long story.
anyway, i figured that seeing as the engine will be out ill get the timing belt, water pump and the tensioners + the fan belt as it would be easier that way and it didnt cost extra to do. one week later i picked up the car and when they started it up it was music to my ears listening to the straight 5 again!!
on the way home the injector light flashed on when i got close to 80 or 3000rpm, figured it could wait for the time being as i spent a fortune repairing the car. a few days later after no more warning lights i left for the continent, italy, and the strangest noise occurs when you accelerate.. its hard to describe but it sounds like a loud mosquito turbo charged! and injector light immediately comes on when u get to 80, so limp home mode and you have to switch off the car to get the power back but you need to keep it at max 70 to keep the power. so i brought it to a mechanic here in italy for a diagnostics.. came back with 4 errors. one was egr valve, 2 and 3 was something with the boost pressure i think and i cant remember the other one. he said that its more than likely the egr valve causing the limp home. i then looked for split pipes, the one to the intercooler at the top of the engine was fine and the pressure was flowing nicely through the tube and the other one which connects to the maf was pretty low on pressure when u floored it. took a look and found some holes in the pipe. order the new pipe and 30mins later it was done. no difference, car still whines whilst accelerating and light still comes on. did the ecu reset today to no avail and another problem which has shown up is that the power steering is extremely heavy and the fluid leves are fine.. so finally my question.... what the h3ll could be causing all this?!?!
one mechanic said that he thinks its the turbo at fault, but wouldnt it have shown on the diagnostics? and also the turbo works fine and i dont hear any weird chopping noises from it, just the usual turbo sound without the whining. could it still be the egr that is causing this mess? or is my turbo actually starting to fail... cause im at a loss when it comes to the whining...sorry for long story but i had make sure everyone had a picture painted
